December 1, 1955

I have thought about how to start this post all day and I have not been able to think of anything. So I figured that I would just tell everyone that I have not thought of anything. All I can think of is the sadness that I feel right now... I learned the news on LiveJournal first but then I read it on a news site...

The sad news is Rosa Parks is dead at 92. Thats right, one of the most important women in the history of United States has passed. Her small refusal, and small act of civil disobedience changed the world for the better... She had ability to do great things with small gestures with no consideration for her own well being... That is the true meaning of being a hero... A very sad moment for the human race has fallen upon us. Rest in peace brave soul... I hope she rides on the front seat of the bus all the way to heaven.

A mere 50 years ago laws existed that dehumanized American citizens... Let this be a reminder of how far we have come for it will be difficult to live up to the standard that she has set for all of us... But also let it be a light to show the world how far we need to go. I think many people do not understand the important nature of this woman's life... After all all the kids think it cool to sit on back of the bus...

She helped change the worlds view of people... She helped us all see others for what they are and not for what the law classifies them. RIP to someone that was brave enough to stand up... uh sit down and change history.
